Charles Ives, 1922. This is a first edition, second impression, of 114 Songs, a book of sheet music, by Charles Ives in its original blue cloth cover lettered in gilt. It has pp37-39 printed. Affixed to inside of the front cover is a 7x11 cm piece of paper with Ive's ink inscription, clipped from an unrelated item: ""C. E. I. Christmas. 1929 164 East 74th St. NY."" The first impression was only 500 copies, which Ives distributed privately. This second impression was consisted of a reported 1000 copies intended, again, for private distribution, and included additional music not included in the first impression. The book is in near fine condition with very minimal wear.

Signed on the front free endpaper by Lytton Strachey. Lytton Strachey (1880-1932), was a founding member of the Bloomsbury Group, and is remembered for his groundbreaking works in biography and literary criticism. His seminal biographies, including ""Eminent Victorians"" (1918) and ""Queen Victoria"" (1921), revolutionized the genre by introducing a novel style characterized by wit, irreverence, and psychological insight.
